Actress Son Ye-jin held an interview in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 29th and shared her thoughts on playing the role of Lady Cho in the Netflix series Scandal. She explained that she had avoided historical dramas since her debut, but wanted to express the bondage of the era yearning for 21st-century self-realization despite the discomfort of wearing Hanbok. The work is a passionate melodrama set in the Joseon Dynasty dealing with a dangerous love bet, receiving simultaneous praise for highlighting Korean beauty and criticism for a slow pace upon release. Son Ye-jin added that she and her husband, actor Hyun Bin, engaged in a box office competition by releasing their starring works around the same time, but could not watch each other's works directly due to childcare.
