BTS and Stray Kids Boycott Grammy Asian Pop Category While Blackpink Fails Criteria
조선일보 ·
Group BTS and Stray Kids announced a boycott and refused to submit their music to the newly established Asian Pop category at the Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy announced the creation of the Best Asian Pop Music Performance category for the upcoming 69th Grammy Awards taking place next February. BTS members stated through personal social media channels that they hope music can be appreciated for itself rather than divided by region or language. Meanwhile, Blackpink also failed to meet the category criteria because their recently released mini-album tracks are entirely in English or fall outside the qualification period.
