At the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on the 27th, BTS won three awards including Song of the Year for Swim, the title track from their fifth studio album Arirang. BTS also captured trophies for Best K-Pop and Best Group, marking major milestones at the VMAs. Unable to attend the ceremony in person due to schedule conflicts, the members shared through their agency that the award is deeply meaningful because Arirang represents a new beginning for them. Additionally at the ceremony, Blackpinks Lisa won Best Pop for Dream featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi, becoming the first K-pop solo artist to win the category.
